Group Size: 10 Spots Left: Half Full
Come join Joe Azure and myself as we explore the beautiful region around Sitka, Alaska. This 8 day educational photography tour will cover a mix of landscape, macro and wildlife photography. You will have the opportunity to capturing everything from bald eagles fishing along the shore to Alaskan brown bears roaming the countryside to the many waterfalls of the Tongass National Forest and much much more. We will also spend two half days out on the water, looking for pods of Orca's and Humpback Whales as we make our way to the incredible St. Lazeria Island (Bird Sanctuary). WHAT TO EXPECT: Sitka, Alaska is in a unique part of the world. Located on a somewhat protected cove on Baranof Island, Sitka's proximity to the Pacific Ocean allows for very unpredictable weather. However with so many photographic opportunities in such sort distance from the town, there will always be plenty to photograph, regardless of the changing weather. Sitka sits in the middle of the Tongass National Forest, the largest national forest in the US. Most of the area surrounding Sitka is temperate rain forest, which allows for the lush vegetation and abundance of bald eagles and Alaskan Brown Bears in the region. Safety is always our number 1 concern for both our participants and the local wildlife. Do note that this is NOT a wildlife specific workshop, but as it is mentioned above, you will have plenty of opportunity to capture a variety of subjects throughout this trip. You will be given both group and individual photo education throughout the duration of the trip, so please bring your laptop if you want further instruction outside of hands on education while out in the field.
